The client’s objectives

Austin-Smith:Lord has been delivering the highest degree of creative and practical thought in architecture since 1949. Their celebrated history has given rise to many buildings of national importance, and over 150 awards and commendations for outstanding architectural and environmental design.

The practice was founded by two people, Mike and Inette Austin-Smith. Today they number 13 partners and 240 employees across five locations nationwide and a sixth coming shortly in Abu Dhabi. In 2008 the practice decided to review its current outward appearance and to achieve this its proposed to appoint a suitable organisation to assist and facilitate a brand analysis and review programme.

The Branding Workshop’s help

The Branding Workshop conducted an in-depth review across the whole practice, to assist ASl to understand the spread and depth of their brand.

Interviews with the founding partner and with a range of key clients took place, and the findings translated into a comprehensive Brand Strategy and positioning for the partnership that would distinguish them in the marketplace.

Following a three way creative pitch in November 2008 Zulver and Co were commissioned to review and refresh the brand identity of Austin-Smith:Lord. Based on the work carried out by The Branding Workshop they worked on a new updated logotype and visual language.
